Acne

Even though acne is not classified as a life threatening disease, acne can have some very serious life long ill affects. The most serious of affects fall in the realm of both physical and emotional.
Physically, acne, if no prevention or treatment steps are taken, can and will cause scarring. In extreme cases of acne, where it is allowed to develop into advanced stages, acne can leave your body looking like a battlefield. Every time you look in the mirror these scars serve as a constant reminder of it’s domination over you. And sadly, we live in a superficial world where looks matter, and if you look different, you get treated different.
No one wants to look like freak and no one wants to be treated differently than anyone else; especially if the treatment is not very nice. Therefore, regardless of what people tell you including the ever so popular line “acne will go away on its own”, you need to look after your own physical appearance and learn to treat and prevent acne before it causes physical damage such as scars.
Emotionally, the effects of acne can be far worse than physical scars. I’ve seen young men and women as well as grown men and women so ashamed of their appearance that they would sit alone at home than to step foot into a public place. Their self-confidence is so low that they can barely carry on a conversation and they are so paranoid of their self image that they are constantly thinking what others might think of them. And many of these people have extremely difficult time forming or maintaining meaningful relationships. This is just not right! No one deserves this and no one should be made to feel this way; especially in this day and age where countless treatments are available to control acne.
There are many treatments available, some prescription, some none prescription, and of course there are home remedies. Depending on the severity of your acne, much of it can be treated safely and effectively with non prescription acne treatments. While there are many home remedies for acne, I do question their effectiveness. The best thing to do is speak with your physician and determine the best course of action for you.
